Private Policy

In order for our organization to work, we may collect some of your personal information, and this privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) describes how we collect, maintain, and use that information. This Privacy Policy governs our website as well as our privacy practices for our in-person trainings and events.

Please read this Privacy Policy so that you can make an informed decision about using our website or connecting with us.  If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, then do not use the website or take part in our services, including our CPR and defibrillator trainings (our “Services”).  By using our website or our Services, you are agreeing to the terms of this Privacy Policy and consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

In this Privacy Policy, words like “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Circle of Friends and our service providers, collectively.  We will disclose information, including your personal information, to these other entities in connection with providing our Services, as described further below in the “Disclosure of Personal Information” section, and these other entities may use and disclose information as provided in this Privacy Policy.

Personal Information

Information that you provide to us.  Most of the information we collect will be directly from you. We regularly collect certain information from our donors, volunteers, and participants in our certification programs, including their names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. We use third party service providers for our donations and do not collect credit card information on our website. In the rare instances where we do obtain credit card or other payment information from a donor, we only retain the payment information for as long as necessary to process the payment.

Information that we obtain from other sources.  From time to time we may obtain information about you from other sources, such as providers of other services where you have consented to that service provider providing information about you to us (for example, our third-party service providers that manage donations).  We also may obtain general analytics information from our website.

Use of Personal Information

We use your personal information to provide our website and Services to you and to understand the usage of our website and Services so that we can make improvements to them. We may also use your personal information to provide you with our newsletter or other emails or notify you of events. You will have the option to unsubscribe (opt-out) of all marketing communications from us by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of every email message we send or replying to the message with the word “unsubscribe” in the message body.

Disclosure of Personal Information

We use third parties to provide services to us in connection with the Services (including processing donations or other payments), and we may provide personal information to these third parties as necessary to perform the Services.  However, we will share personal information with third parties only if they agree to maintain the confidentiality of your personal information and to use your personal information only in connection with providing the Services and other services to us. These other entities may use and disclose information as provided in this Privacy Policy.

We may derive information from your personal information that is not personally identifiable to you.  For example, we may aggregate certain information regarding use of the Services so that your usage of the Services is not discernable from the aggregate usage of the Services.  We may use and share with third parties any information that we derive from personal information that is not personally identifiable to you.

We may disclose personal information if compelled to in connection with a legal or regulatory proceeding, or in connection with enforcing our rights or defending ourselves in a legal or regulatory proceeding.

We may obtain your consent to disclose your personal information to a third party, in which case we will limit our disclosure and the use of your personal information only to the purposes for which we obtain your consent.  If we disclose your personal information to a third party with your consent, then your personal information will become subject to the privacy policy or other privacy commitments, if any, of that third party.

We will retain your personal information as is reasonably necessary, in our discretion, for our organizational purposes and to comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
